The use of dodge in the mid-treeline (so they become lighter and softer) is a brilliant techniqe, it makes the image (in my opinion) and it is a great style. I can't really rationalize why I like it, but i do like it. Very well done.

Congratulations with your DD!
This picture is worth it, more than any (now).
You added a nice effect to it, with the vertical blur, very good!
I can go on about the choice of colors and the fact that your 'main' subject is tiny... you placed her in the right spot, believe me! My eyes were immediately drawn to that spot like a magnet! The lines created by the blur add to that effect, but they also make the woods look a lot bigger than they would without them. I can clearly see that you placed these 'stripes' very carefully, not just blur the whole thing vertically and erase the layer here and there.
